Gaudi’s Barcelona

July 2014

Beaches, mountains, delicious food, architecture..all in one place. You’re still wandering what to see in Barcelona? A LOT!

We took a bus from the airport to Plaça de Catalunya, a very beautiful square from where all the roads start. You will need a map and you might want a 10 journeys ticket (T10) that you can use for the metro, bus, tram.

Torre Agbar – fascinating to see it during the night, because it’s illuminated in different colors. You can go inside, but you’ll need a ticket and as far as I know you don’t have access to top floor.

Parc de la Ciutadella – such a vivid and relaxing park and the ZOO of Barcelona is just 5 minutes away by foot. The ticket at the zoo is around 20 euros per person and it’s worthing. There’s a lot to see inside.

On your way back to town you cannot miss the triumph arc (made of bricks).

Casa Mila, Casa Batllo, Casa Amatller – very beautiful architecture, but very crowded and the tickets are too expensive.

Les Rambles – spend some time to see this street, don’t miss La Boqueria (public market) and then go to the beach, it’s in your way.

Park Güell – Gaudi “is” the man, no doubt.

And last, but not least on my list is Sagrada Familia. It literally took my breath away. You just look at it and you cannot believe it is real. Did you feel the same about this masterpiece? I bet you did.

Barcelona, like the lyrics say,

“abre tus puertas al mundo”

friends until the end,

VIVA Barcelona!

P.S. Think ahead and while you’re in Barcelona, fly to Ibiza or Mallorca as well. It’s close and it would be a shame to miss them.
